Board of Directors
Chuck Sheldon, the chairman of Network Hardware Resale’s board of directors since January 2006, served as the company’s chief executive officer until his retirement in December 2005. Chuck Sheldon founded Network Hardware Resale (originally named Strand Computer Resale) in 1986. The company initially focused on the purchase and resale of IBM computers and communications equipment. The product strategy evolved to keep pace with technology, and, by 1996, Network Hardware Resale had become a pioneer in the secondary networking equipment market.
Before founding Network Hardware Resale, Mr. Sheldon had a varied career in politics, technology sales, business writing and real estate. It was during his term as Mayor of Hermosa Beach, California that Mr. Sheldon, already a technology industry veteran, began Strand Computer Resale as a part-time, home-based business. He began his technology career with IBM in the mid-1960s where he spent 15 years in a variety of marketing, sales management and strategic planning positions.
An accomplished entrepreneur and businessman, Mr. Sheldon has contributed his expertise to articles and served as a mentor to many young business people. He was recognized as a regional finalist for the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year award, and under his leadership Network Hardware Resale has been honored by local and national publications, including Inc. Magazine, for its rapid growth and financial stability.
Mr. Sheldon is a graduate of Southern Methodist University in Dallas, Texas. He and his wife of 40 years Missy live in Santa Barbara, California where their two sons and five young grandchildren also make their homes.
Jamie Greenwald, a member of Network Hardware Resale’s board of directors, was a managing director with Morgan Stanley’s Institutional Equity Division until he retired from the company in 2005.
Mr. Greenwald’s successful 19-year career in investment banking included 10 years at Morgan Stanley where he held a variety of senior leadership roles. He joined the company in 1995 as a managing director in the Institutional Equity Division. In that role, he led an international team in solving commercial and investment problems for corporations, insurance companies, pension funds and investment managers around the world. From 1996 to 1999, he relocated to London to rebuild and manage the company’s European Equity Derivative and Portfolio Trading business. As the economy softened in early 2000, he led a successful initiative to apply technology to streamline operational processes and costs in Morgan Stanley’s more complex products and businesses.
Most recently, Mr. Greenwald served as manager of the company’s product innovation team. In that capacity, he spearheaded certain internal and external firm investments in the financial software and internet arena while seeking cutting-edge new businesses and directing the division’s product development and distribution strategy. He also managed the company’s Financing Products Group. Prior to joining Morgan Stanley, he was a managing director at Merrill Lynch as well as a vice president at Bankers Trust in New York
Mr. Greenwald has holds a bachelor’s of science in finance from the University of Vermont. He lives in Santa Barbara with his wife Kolleen and their four children.
John Sheldon, a member of Network Hardware Resale’s board of directors, joined the company as a co-founding member and served as vice president of sales until 2009. Mr. Sheldon’s enthusiasm and passion for the company continue to shape its culture.
John Sheldon joined his father Chuck Sheldon at Network Hardware Resale in 1995 as the company's second employee. Over the next 10 years, with John Sheldon leading the company’s sales organization, Network Hardware Resale experienced record growth and was named to the prestigious "Inc 500" list of America’s fastest growing private companies four times between 2000 and 2003. By 2005, the company had become a global reseller with offices in California, New Jersey and Amsterdam, more than 100 employees, and annual revenue in excess of $105 million.
Since retiring from his operations role with Network Hardware Resale, Mr. Sheldon is focusing on new entrepreneurial endeavors and spending time with his two young children.
John Sheldon is a graduate of the University of California, Santa Barbara. He lives in Santa Barbara, California with his wife and their daughter and son.
John W. Young, a member of Network Hardware Resale’s board of directors, led strategic human resources and organizational design at Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts for more than 20 years until his retirement from the company in 2004.
Most recently, Mr. Young served as executive vice president at Four Seasons responsible for overseeing management selection, training, performance management, manpower planning, career path planning, management development, succession planning, labor/employee relations, employee communications as well as compensation and benefits policies for the company worldwide. Young played a pivotal organizational role as the chain experienced rapid global growth, expanding to more than 60 hotels and resorts in 29 countries with more than 32,000 employees.
Mr. Young joined Four Seasons in 1983 as vice president of human resources. Prior to Four Seasons, Mr. Young held executive and senior human resource management positions with Lex Service Group, Dowty Group Limited (now part of TI-Messier) and the Hoover Company.
Mr. Young currently makes his home in Carmel, Calif., where he serves as a consultant in the media, educational and service sectors. He also is on the board of Elizabeth Arden Salons and Spas and Equinox Fitness as well as an operating advisor to North Castle Partners. Throughout his Four Seasons career, he served as a member of the Advisory Board for the School of Hospitality at Ryerson Polytechnic University, where he was also a member of the Dean’s Advisory Board, Faculty of Business.
Mr. Young holds an M.A. from the University of Edinburgh and subsequently completed post-graduate studies in personnel management. Additionally, in 1981, he earned a master’s degree in organizational behavior. He holds the professional designation Certified Human Resources Practitioner (CHRP.)
Mike Sheldon is President and Chief Executive Officer of Network Hardware Resale and provides leadership and strategic direction for this growing global reseller of networking equipment. Under Mr. Sheldon’s guidance, NHR continues to post record revenues and expand its operations. The company currently employs more than 200 people in the United States, Europe and Asia-Pacific.
Mr. Sheldon joined the company in 2001 as Vice President of Sales and was named CEO in January 2006. Prior to joining NHR, Sheldon had a successful career in investment banking with UBS and Barclays Capital in New York and London. Upon joining NHR, he applied his knowledge of investment management to NHR’s supply chain and sales processes to create a data-driven procurement and sales organization that is among the most knowledgeable and agile in the secondary market.
Mike Sheldon holds a bachelor’s degree in philosophy from MIT where he also studied mathematics. He is a founding member and president of the Used Network Equipment Dealer Association (UNEDA), a professional association of secondary market dealers focused on ensuring integrity and fighting counterfeit in the secondary market. Mr. Sheldon resides in Santa Barbara, California with his wife and three children.
Mike Walker joined Network Hardware Resale's board in 2010 and is president and CEO of Baswood Inc., a market leading and defining clean water technology company. At Baswood, Mr. Walker has led the company’s successful commercialization and product development processes.
Prior to Baswood, Mr. Walker spent 15 years in the technology industry, having held senior and executive positions in management, sales, and business development. He began his career in the technology sector at Oracle Corporation, where he focused on growing the company's financial services business. He then co-founded a successful advertising and services start-up where he led investor relations, business development and sales. Mr. Walker continued his interest in early stage start-ups at network security firm Demarc and e-commerce pioneer Giveline where he oversaw business and corporate development.
Mr. Walker holds a bachelor’s of science in finance from the University of Southern California. He lives in Santa Barbara, California with his wife Kelly and their three children. |
