Dueling Documentation: What Supervisor Engines are Compatible with the Catalyst 4506?

While much of Cisco’s online documentation says that the Cisco Supervisor Engine II-Plus-TS (WS-X4013+TS) is compatible with the Catalyst 4506 series switch, it actually is not. The manuals that accompany these products set the record straight, but, by that time, the problem has likely become obvious. When this supervisor engine is installed in the Catalyst 4506 switch, the user receives an error message indicating an incompatible supervisor.

Network Hardware Resale’s experience indicates that the other supervisor engines listed as supported in Cisco’s documentation are, in fact, compatible.
